What does it take to create a more equitable workplace? How can we harness the talents of people on the autism spectrum or with similar neurodiversities toward meaningful employment? Those are the questions that internationally recognized social enterprise Specialisterne has been focused on for many years. Originally founded in Denmark by Thorkil Sonne, Specialisterne now operates in twelve countries around the world. To learn more about its work and impact, we speak with the leader of its North American operations next.

Welcome to In the Business of Change, where we speak with social entrepreneurs impacting their communities and the world. I’m your host Elisa Birnbaum publisher and editor in chief of SEE Change Magazine.

On today’s episode we speak with Alan Kriss, CEO of Specialisterne Canada and the U.S. In our conversation Alan shares how he got involved with the organization and its evolution over the years. We discuss the employment challenges of neurodivergent employees and what Specialisterne is doing to change hiring and management practices toward creating workplaces that are not only more equitable but good for business too.
