When it comes to impact investing, you could say Jory Cohen knows a thing or two. In his most recent role, for example, as Director of Finance and Impact Investment at Toronto-based Inspirit Foundation, Jory played an integral role in launching its 100% impact portfolio, believed to be the first institutional portfolio of its kind in the country – and perhaps beyond.

After a decade at the public foundation, Jory decided to step down and embark on a new path. To commemorate both his achievements in the sector so far as well as the launch of his new impact investment firm, Jory joined us for an insightful and engaging conversation. Stay tuned.

Welcome to In the Business of Change, where we speak with social entrepreneurs and changemakers impacting their communities and the world. I’m your host Elisa Birnbaum publisher and editor in chief of SEE Change Magazine.

On today’s episode we speak with Jory Cohen. In our conversation, we discuss the integral role he played in help Inspirit Foundation launch a 100% impact portfolio, and the significance of that initiative. We examine the impact investment space in Canada more broadly, its strengths and weaknesses, and what it needs to grow stronger.
